Acerca del evento
From the Latin nova, ‘new’.
Under this title, the artist presents a reflection that draws a connection between the ‘before’ and ‘after’ of something, through brushstrokes, texture and the unfolding of the scenes. When catharsis occurs, there is always a moment before rebirth in which one must reach an extreme: only in our darkest hour can we begin to see the light of change.
As with all elements of nature, a symbolic death must occur for transformation to take place (the caterpillar and the butterfly, the falling of leaves and the blossoming of flowers, day and night), and it is precisely at that point where these extremes meet—where decay and beauty collide, the turning point at which we can fall no further and have no choice but to rise—that the point of no return occurs, giving rise to something entirely new. It is precisely this point that these paintings seek to capture, through the contrast between the defined and the unfinished, the realistic and the abstract—the exact moment of transformation. For this reason, they represent a state of change, of reNOVation. The collapse of something that never dies, and which produces a glimpse of what is to come.
