When a friend of mine first saw this series of small paintings, which I titled 'atmospheres', he described them as the act of “painting sound”. To him, this is what audio waves, the sound echoes of the environment, would look like if we could paint them.
 
I thought it was a wonderful description, and, although that had not been my intention, it is an excellent example of what they represent and what I intend with my paintings: that each person who sees them finds in them what he or she needs to see.
 
The series 'Atmospheres' consists of a set of very abstract urban landscapes in which I tried only to suggest the lights, the movement and the elements that may be passing through the scene at that particular moment. A reality broken down into points of light through which to capture the essence, something that we can not access from our tangible and everyday reality. 
 
This series was framed in the context of my third solo exhibition 'Quiebro y Luz', whose leitmotiv consisted of those moments when something comes to our routine that breaks it completely, breaks it. From that crack emerge all our drives, our dark side. But it is just that, a part of our being, which, like all extremes, also coexists with the luminous part. All this will bring us back to a new meaning for our existence. The series 'Atmospheres' presents the visual idea of this whole concept: the crack through which light and darkness emerge.
