Sometimes it seems that the author of a painting must know how to explain perfectly what is happening in it. However, in my case this is not always the case. Many times it is not like that.

When I paint, I usually start from an idea that speaks to me, that transmits glimpses of something important, even if I am not sure what it is, and, as I develop the painting, it takes on a life of its own, leading me from one place to another, guiding me.

Once finished, and as another spectator, I sit down to observe it and ask myself questions about what is happening in the image. I see things I had not foreseen, I perceive emotions I had not had. I find stories, and I search for answers.

'La Búsqueda' (The Quest) is just a reflection of life. Why is the figure wearing an astronaut suit in that corner of his particular universe? For me, it is the allegory of the human being in the face of nothingness and everything. It may look like the exploration of outer space, but it is really a look inside. What does she think? What has she seen? What is her certainty?

When we search, sometimes we find without wanting to. There are difficulties, huge and unknown spaces, but there is always a horizon. Sometimes we only glimpse it and want to discover it, sometimes we see it clearly and walk towards it.

But, in one way or another, we always look for it, even if we do not know what.
