This work is the first time I have approached methacrylate as a support. This material is not only special for its physical qualities: the smooth and soft surface, and its transparency qualities; but also for the value it adds to the narrative of the work:
'The Waterfall' makes an obvious plastic reference to water, which is crystalline, clean and pure. We can see through the water. The methacrylate, translucent, emerges through the figure represented.
But, the water falling through a waterfall is also virgin and wild. The waterfall can be emotional. It can run unstoppably through us. It can be a cascade of events, a cascade of thoughts. We must reflect: How do we bathe in the waterfall of our own fears, of our doubts or desires? Are we capable of crossing it to discover what is behind it?
Many cultures have legends about what lies behind the waterfalls, but almost all of them converge in the idea of a great revelation. A truth that only those who are able to cross it will know.
On a transparent surface like this methacrylate, with the visual qualities of glass, only the figure is opaque, only it represents an obstacle to look through. Only each one of us can navigate our inner waters and find the fissures to reach our own truth.
