Lepidoptera III is the last work in the series of three small-format butterflies that form part of the Eden collection. Again, to close the trio in a circular fashion, this is a variety of morpho butterfly. They are large insects with deep blue tones. In the painting it flies dynamically between abstractions suggesting the movements of a cloud of butterflies.
In this collection, the butterfly is not only an aesthetic entity. It represents the volatile, the ephemeral, the beginning and the end of life. And, above all, it possesses that eternal contrast in which the tentatively harmless can turn deadly. For their predators, these butterflies are highly poisonous, and it is precisely their beauty that is the most dangerous trap.
