'Lepidoptera II' is the second work in a series of three in which I wanted to represent the butterfly, as the protagonist of the collection, in a fluid, loose and dynamic way. In this case, it is one of the most exotic butterflies in existence, a type of bird-wing butterfly. In this case, I covered the insect's body with gold leaf, highlighting its amazing golden quality.
For me, the butterfly is not just an aesthetic entity. It represents the volatile, the ephemeral, the beginning and the end of life. And, above all, it possesses that eternal contrast in which the tentatively harmless can turn deadly. For their predators, these butterflies are highly poisonous, and it is precisely their beauty that is the most dangerous trap.
